Draft floor plans for the new multipurpose centers at Andrew Jackson, Buford and Lancaster highs were presented to the Board of Trustees during a called meeting Thursday, July 28.
“The drafts look awesome and include pretty much everything our schools and communities wanted in the centers,” superintendent Gene Moore said. “We know they’ll really have a tremendously positive impact on what we can do in academics and extracurriculars.”
Mosley architect Jimmy Wilhide reviewed the draft floor plans with board.
During the presentation, he emphasized that the draft plans and the locations for the centers were the result of numerous meetings with teachers and staff to be sure the buildings fit the school and community needs.
The goal for opening the centers is August 2018. The centers were part of the bond projects approved by voters last spring.
The update was presented during the called meeting because the board did not have a regular meeting in July.
“We needed the board’s input on the plans so we could move forward,” Moore said. “We’ve made good progress on the centers and want to keep the process moving.”
