Top national award goes to district teacher

Crystal Fields, our district’s ESOL lead teacher, has won the national Virginia French Allen Award.
This award honors an ESOL teacher who has shared scholarship and provided services to teachers in her district and in the National Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages Association.

“We appreciate so much the work Crystal does to help students and her fellow teachers,” instructional services director Carolyn Jordan said. “She is really making a difference.”
Crystal will receive her award in March at the annual convention in New Orleans.

The award is presented by TESOL.

Last year, Crystal received an award from the U.S. State Department that allowed her to go to Azerbaijan to train teachers there.
