Each of our four high schools now has an automated external defibrillator, thanks to the Fleischer Foundation.
“Having defibrillators available at our schools is such a positive step for the welfare of our students and teachers,” superintendent Gene Moore said. “We sincerely appreciate the Fleischer Foundation’s donation. It speaks volumes about Dr. Fleischer’s commitment to making life better for the people of our county.”
Foundation representative and founder Jane Fleischer donated the defibrillators in memory of her husband, Dr. Thomas Fleischer, who died earlier this year.
The devices deliver an electric shock to get the heart pumping regularly and cost nearly $1,500 each.
When Fleischer presented the units to Dr. Moore, she said, “I hope they never have to be used.”
