An essay by an Indian Land High student won her a four-day trip to Disney World in March.
Sophomore Kendra Nesmith was one of 99 students nationwide selected as winners in the 2013 Disney Dreamers Academy Essay Contest. The Board of Trustees presented a Trustees Award to Kendra to recognize her winning the award.
“Congratulations to Kendra on writing a winning essay. Dreams do come true,” board chair Bobby Parker said. “I can only imagine how life-altering that experience must have been.”
She and the other winners spent March 7-10 at the academy at Walt Disney World Resort with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE magazine.
The weekend included educational sessions, guest speakers and hands-on learning throughout the resort.
