Elementary lunch prices will increase by 5 cents next year, and middle and high school lunches will increase by 10 cents.
“We’re required by the USDA and Paid Lunch Equity Act to make a concerted effort to get our lunch prices to what we’re reimbursed for free and reduced meals,” food services director Angela McCrorey said. “We’re trying to make gradual increases to give families time to prepare for the increase.”
These increases are the first in the district in four years.
The increases bring the cost of an elementary lunch to $1.65 and a high school lunch to $2.10.
Breakfast prices will remain the same.
USDA sets the prices for adult meals, and those prices won’t be announced until after July 1.
