Board waives making up half-day missed for eclipse

     The Board of Trustees’ vote to waive making up the half-day missed for the eclipse Aug. 21 means Thursday, May 24, will now be a half school day for students.

     The board voted unanimously to approve the superintendent’s recommendation to waive the make-up day.

     Friday, May 25, will be a half-day for students.

     Thursday was scheduled as a half-day when the 2017-18 calendar was adopted by the Board of Trustees in February 2017, but during the solar eclipse Aug. 21, the district used one of the three half-days state law allows schools to take each year.

     Exams for middle and high school students are scheduled May 24-25.
