Eleven school cafeteria kitchens received 100% scores during inspections by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.
• Six of those kitchens scored 100% for Spring 2018 inspections.
• Nine also received 100% during their Fall 2017 inspections.
• “This award is a huge tribute to the hard work and dedication of our cafeteria staffs,” Board of Trustees chair Bobby Parker said. “We appreciate all they do to provide nutritious breakfasts and lunches for our students. And we appreciate all they do to maintain excellent food safety procedures and clean, healthy atmospheres in our cafeterias.”
• Thirty-seven areas are thoroughly inspected and graded by the state health inspector during the inspections, and receiving 100% is a difficult task, according to school district food services director Angela McCrorey.
• “Any restaurant owner will tell you – getting 100% on an inspection is very, very hard. It’s an accomplishment that really takes attention to detail and a focus on following a quality process,” McCrorey said. “Our cafeteria managers and their staffs have worked so hard to make sure we have high standards in our kitchens.”
