Virtual Learning day March 18

Virtual+Learning+day+March+18

We have been tracking the potential for hazardous weather on Thursday, March 18, 2021. The forecast has remained constant that there is an enhanced threat of tornados, high winds, hail, and rain. The brunt of this bad weather appears to be forecast between 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

In terms of timing, this is the worst time of the day for bad weather at schools. We have many students in cafeterias, vocational travel, dismissal and ultimately traveling home on roadways during these hours. We also have large numbers of students in portable classrooms that are not safe in high wind situations, of which we must be mindful.

These events are spontaneous and can occur without much warning making them more dangerous than other weather-related issues such as snow and ice. After careful consideration and an abundance of caution, the district has decided to switch to a virtual learning day for all students and staff for tomorrow, Thursday, March 18, 2021.  Please look for more information from your child’s school and individual teacher for what this means for your student.

We understand that with this type of weather, there is the potential for loss of power and internet service, which would impact the ability to access virtual learning.  If you should have a power or internet outage, please know that we will work with your student to address what was missed. Above all else, please take all precautions to remain safe during this weather event.
