Indian Land High update

The inspection on Tuesday, July 27 went well. A certificate of conditional occupancy was issued for teachers and staff to begin to work. The final inspection next Friday, August 6, looks promising. Currently, no students or community members are allowed to tour the school.

There are three areas of concern that need to be corrected and all areas that are not safe have been clearly marked.

1)   The auditorium needs to be completed, including electrical, flooring and seating.

2)   In the kitchen, an exhaust hood did not remove enough smoke during the inspection.

3)   There are a few steps on a few sets of stairs around the school that were not up to code.

Superintendent Jonathan Phipps states “At this time, there should not be any reason that Indian Land High would not be open for students on August 16.”
