P-EBT update

P-EBT update

The payments families are being issued now are summer benefits. Students that were enrolled during the 2020-21 school year and were free, reduced, or attended a CEP will receive summer benefits. Students that need a card issued for these benefits should allow up to 3 weeks for the card to arrive via mail. Students that became eligible for free or reduced meals via meal application or DC from the end of the 2020-21 school year until August 16th will be paid summer benefits in late September if they were enrolled for the 2020-21 school year. Students at new CEP schools for the 2021-22 school year are not eligible for summer P-EBT benefits unless they were approved as free or reduced during the 2020-21 school year.

Currently, there are no P-EBT benefits scheduled for the 2021-22 school year. Parents are encouraged to complete meal applications now in case DSS and USDA determine SC will issue benefits for this school year.

To check the status of a P-EBT card, parents may check the DSS portal, https://benefitsportal.dss.sc.gov/#/pebt/benefitinquiry.

If a new card is needed because it was lost or not delivered, please call 1-800-554-5268. If no answer, email DSS at PEBTBenefits@dss.sc.gov.

There will be no more corrections made to benefits issued for the 2020-21 school year even for those whose attendance was incorrect.
