The Lady Bruins Tennis team defeated Fort Mill High 5 – 1 Thursday afternoon at Fort Mill.
The girls continue to win the close matches and are showing strong finishing touches in the difficult final sets, coach Boris Sylvia.

Sophomore Sara Hicks won the second singles by a score of 7-6, 7-6 defeating a very experienced senior in a close match.
Senior Morgan Gardner won the third singles by a score of 7-5,6-4 winning in convincing manner the last two games to capture the final set.
Sophomore Carley Adams won the fourth singles by a score of 5-7,6-2, 10-4 showing great fitness and determination in completely dominating the final two sets.
The second doubles of senior Katherine Lalla and junior McKenzie Blanton won by a score of 7-6,7-6 in what proved to be a very even match, coach Sylvia said.
The first doubles was not played because the match was already won by the Lady Bruins.
“I am very proud on how the girls are responding to these close matches. It is obvious that our fitness level is higher than our first two opponents because we seem to be fresh in the final games, thus making the hard points successfully. However, we need to develop a stronger killer attitude in the first set and let that momentum carry us into the final for easier victories,” coach Sylvia said. “The girls have the shots in their arsenal, but they are still hesitant to use them for winners in crucial points. Hopefully With more match play experience they will have the confidence to go for the winners.”
The Lady Bruins return for a home match replay on Tuesday against Fort Mill. Matches will begin at 5 p.m. at the USCL courts.
“It will be interesting to see what the results of this second match up will be,” coach Sylvia said.
