The Olympic High Schools are a collection of magnet high schools at the old Olympic High School in southwestern Mecklenburg County.

The match represented the first time the Lady Warriors ventured into North Carolina for a match.

“The requirement for the additional singles and doubles matches forced the team to go deep into its lineup,” coach Doug Young said. “I was pleased that our ladies responded so well.”

Junior Kim Koenig won her fourth straight match without loss in the regular season, and junior April Ciccone won her first match.

Freshman Bridget Sampson won her first singles match.

“Bridget has been willing to play either singles or doubles as the team needs,” coach Young said, “which makes it easier for me to put together a lineup that works.

“I’m pleased with the fact that the ladies attacked their first sets aggressively,” coach Young said. “The whole team has been doing well, strong at the top and producing results through the middle as well.”

Olympic will visit Indian Land Tuesday, Sept. 21 for a return match at the Lady Warrior’s home facility at Sun City Carolina Lakes.
