Dr. Jonathan Phipps is our district’s next superintendent.
     “We’re excited to have Dr. Phipps lead our district,” board chair Bobby Parker said. “He’s an experienced leader and educator who always puts children first, and we know he’ll help continue to improve our work to help children and teachers succeed.”
     Dr. Phipps will begin as superintendent July 1.
     Dr. Phipps has spent the last three years as Abbeville County School District’s superintendent and worked in Lancaster County School District as a teacher, assistant principal, middle and high school principal and secondary education director for 19 years before going to Abbeville.
     The district received 18 applications from Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina by the March 6 deadline, and from those applicants, the board interviewed applicants to choose the three finalists.
