In preparation of the new Indian Land High School completion we informed parents and faculty members that a bell schedule change would need to be enacted. To allow us the opportunity for a smooth transition and to assist with our current heavy traffic load around the schools we recommended to move to the new schedule next school year.
We received input from parents, students, faculty members, PTO, School Improvement Council, administration, bus drivers, school board representatives, and our district Superintendent. Our original model was 9:05 a.m. to 4:05 p.m. We listened to the input of all stakeholders and went back to the drawing board to see what we might do to make the bell schedule change less impactful to everyone’s personal schedule.
We looked at all of our bus routes and spent quality time speaking to all of our bus drivers and asking them for their input. Over the past three weeks we have worked and reworked our routes and have now come to a recommendation that we think is more conservative while still meeting our needs.
The updated bell schedule recommendation from Safety and Transportation was shared with Superintendent Dr. Phipps for his review and approval. He granted that approval and the information was shared with Mr. Shamble to release to his staff prior to public release.
The 2019-2020 schedule for Indian Land High School will be as follows: 8:50 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
This schedule will go into effect in August. Beginning in August middle and high school students will be bused separately. We feel confident this change will be very positive and meet our needs for many years to come. We thank everyone for their input in this process.
