Superintendent Search Update 2/17/26

The Lancaster County School District Board of Trustees would like to provide an update on the Superintendent Search.  The LCSD Board retained the South Carolina School Board Association (SCSBA) on October 21, 2026 to assist with the search.  A community survey was available from November 11, 2025 to January 6, 2026. Applications were open from November 4, 2025 to January 6, 2026.

On February 10, 2026, the SCSBA submitted a consolidated survey report to the Board. The report included the findings from both a recent survey and focus groups conducted as part of the 2023 superintendent search. The data provided valuable insights into the qualities and attributes that the community values in a Superintendent.  SCSBA also presented the Board with over twenty applications from candidates seeking the Superintendent position. These applications were made available for the Board’s review and consideration, marking a significant step forward in the search process.

After the Board completes its deliberation process, finalists will be named. These individuals will advance to the next stage, which involves a presentation before the community.

The community presentation is anticipated to take place in late March or early April. However, the specific date and time for this event are subject to several considerations. These include the schedules of the selected finalists, the availability of an appropriate venue, and any potential conflicts with school activities. Careful coordination is necessary to ensure that all factors are considered.

Further details regarding the presentation of finalists will be communicated as they become available. For the most current information, community members are encouraged to visit the Lancaster County School District website (https://www.lancastercsd.com).
