I am Diane Hubbert and have been teaching for 28 years. For the last 11 years I have been teaching middle school ELA. I have a Master's Degree in Education and am a National Board Certified Teacher. Reading is my passion and I hope to share my love of reading with my students. I am originally from Buffalo, New York but have lived in the Carolinas for 24 years. In my free time I love to travel (all over the world), be outside, and read. I am so excited to teach at Buford Middle School.

Hey, my name is Serrah Ballard. I will be the 6th grade math teacher this year at Buford Middle School. Last year, I was a 5th grade teacher at Erwin Elementary. My education background is a bachelor’s in Elementary Education that I received from Converse University in Spartanburg, SC. I am super excited to be able to teach math this year, as it has always been my dream job to teach middle school math. I’m looking forward to this coming school year, Go Jackets!

Hi, Jacket Family! My name is Hannah Merrill, and I am so happy to be joining the 6th grade team at BMS this year! This is my 15th year in education and with LCSD. I have taught social studies in both middle and high school as well as middle level ELA. I have also served as an instructional coach in the middle and high school settings. I am returning to Buford Schools for the fist time since high school, C/O 2007. I am a proud graduate of Winthrop University and a lifelong advocate for growing our new and future educators through mentorship and support. At home, I am the chief conductor of chaos. My husband Tim and I have 3 wonderful children. Our house is a mix of teenage quirks and toddler shenanigans, but we wouldn't have it any other way. I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Jacket Family and to give back to the families and community that have given so much to me.
