Good afternoon, this is Rick Parker, Principal of Indian Land High School calling with our Sunday Weekly Update. Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers out there! You are so many things to so many people. And today, you are celebrated for the beautiful person you are! I hope your day is extra special.
I am so proud of our Softball and Baseball teams who made it to another round in the state playoffs. Both won on Friday and Saturday evening and are scheduled to play tomorrow at 6 pm tomorrow at home depending on the weather! Come out and support our Warriors!
Coach Mata in Track sent out a shout to numerous student athletes who qualified for the State Meet this Thursday at Spring Valley High School. With a rainy day they were still able to have 13 student athletes qualify for the State Meet. Saturday was very competitive and very tough circumstances dealing with weather along with an older track. Below are the list of student athletes that will be competing Thursday Night at Spring Valley High School. Please congratulate the student athletes below for their accomplishments. GO WARRIORS!

Our JROTC Unit traveled to Kentucky to compete in the National Championship! We were so fortunate for Ms. DeBeus who drove them there and Dr. Atkins to chaperone due to Sergeant Major Cato’s mother passing. They left Wednesday and returned Saturday. Both teachers going over and above the call of duty was truly amazing! I am proud to say the team did great winning first place and third in two big events and several other awards!
Lastly, our Fine Arts Department had their Dinner Theater Friday and Saturday! It was a huge success!
This week we have our Senior Sunset/Field Day on Wednesday, 5/14 from 6-9 pm and the Yearbook Release Party during FLEX on Thursday, 5/15.
We are now in the final month countdown until graduation and Summer Break! We are in what I call “The Season of Effort” and officially in testing mode until the remainder of the school year. See attached schedule.
AP testing continues tomorrow, Monday May 12 through May 16. We will follow the regular attendance policy during the school day. If an AP student wants to leave early, they need to bring a note. If they do not have any classes, they can leave after testing. If arriving late, students must bring a parent note too. If a student is missing more than six days in any classes, they are responsible for recovering their days.
EOC Blitz began Friday, 5/9 during FLEX. We have 5/12, 5/14, 5/15, and 5/16 coming up this week! Teachers will be finishing final units and begin reviewing; and EOC Blitz began last week during FLEX before the first English Writing EOC on 5/13 to ensure students are ready for the State testing.
Students in HIST 112 at USCL or HIST 212 at Winthrop (assuming you took HIST 111 at USCL or HIST 211 at Winthrop as well in order to count for your Junior Year HISTORY graduation credit), you need to take the EOC here on May 20th. There is a Google Classroom for study guides - (see the Stream on Google Classroom) and there will be EOC Blitz's on the 12th, 14th, 15th, and 16th- this will be during FLEX (the bell schedule will be different that week- FLEX will be from 1:54-2:44- do not be late.
Mrs. Knight is also going to offer EOC Blitz/review sessions for any AMH 112 student that wants to attend all next week May 12-16 during 4th Block (2:50-4:10).
Seniors- Please see the attached Class of 2025 PowerPoint with all the information for your convenience.

Seniors must turn in the school-issued Chrome book and the school-issued charger between May 15-May 21. Bring both items to the library and turn them in to Mrs. Pampreen. Chrome books will be locked after May 21.
It is time to begin working on transferring anything you want to keep from your LCSD Google Drive. Your LCSD Google account will be disabled and inaccessible after graduation. If you are interested in keeping papers you wrote, tip sheets from teachers, projects, etc., transfer your materials to a personal account ASAP. Here is a good Youtube video tutorial if you need it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLsi_yixRqE
Student attendance is critical right now until the end of the school year. Ninety percent of success is showing up and present (not just present, but fully engaged in the work). We are not counting the days but making the days count. Please remind you student to be mindful of their attendance with the end of the year approaching. If you have any concerns, please stop by my office and see Ms. Hunt.
All library books and materials are now overdue. Please return them as soon as possible. If you have truly lost the item, please pay the replacement cost. If it says the item is lost and you know where the item is, simply return the item and the fine will be satisfied. We accept cash or credit card payments (there is a small processing fee on top of the fine amount) for lost items.
