Good afternoon, this is Rick Parker, Principal of Indian Land High School, sending a Summertime Update! We made it to the end! Woohoo! Congratulations to the Class of 2025! A special thank you goes out to one of my teachers, Tim Helsley Building Construction Teacher, who created the Class of 2025 Highlight Video of Graduation! Enjoy!
We began the 2024-25 year with a theme to help guide us with a laser focus, Work Hard, Work Smart, Work Together to “Preparing The LAND!” I reminded everyone that we continue to be in the life improvement business. We are planting seeds every day, farming and cultivating young people, where they know someone believes in them, cares about them, and loves them. For us to continue being one of the best, I firmly believe it was about staying grounded in our "Why" and the EXPERIENCES we create, ultimately realizing that with every decision we make, there is the life of a child on the other side. You see, it is the people, not the programs, that makes Indian Land a great school. Everyone is here to not only make a difference, but to have an impact! To stop wondering if you can make a difference and instead know, you are the difference. We must bring the energy, always looking for ways to improve. It is about getting 1% better every day!
Well, the Warrior Mindset we started with paid off! We were RUTHLESS about “Excellence without Exception” by leveraging our staff expertise to deliver on the promise of equity, mastery, and achievement ensuring high levels of learning for all students, regardless of background. Our choice weapons we used for precision, focus, and agility were sound practice, collaboration, influence, creativity, urgency, innovation, relentless learning, and indomitable will.
Our EOC teachers rocked it out showing gains in each subject area: English 2 - 74.5% to 84%, a 9.5% gain; Algebra 1 - 62.6% to 69.6%, a 7% gain; Biology - 60.4% to 65%, a 4.6 gain; and US History - 59.8% to 70%, a 10.2 gain. Our 2024-25 graduation rate has reached and all time high of 92.8% (possibly higher with summer school graduates).
A special thank you goes out to all our teachers for their dedicated planning day in and day out provide high quality standard aligned instruction to prepare our students to be career and college ready; to our instructional coach for leading our teachers through the PLC process, conducting walkthroughs, and analyzing data to ensure academic success; to our counselors for managing their student caseloads to ensure they are enrolled in the best courses to satisfy graduation requirements and make them marketable for college and career opportunities; to our MTSS coordinator who supported our teachers with accommodations and students with check-in meetings and attendance concerns; to our attendance clerk for tracking and monitoring student attendance and needed recovery; to our front office staff for welcoming and supporting our patrons with a smile on their face; to our Multi-lingual teachers for managing ACCESS testing to assist our ML students exiting the program; to our testing coordinator ensuring we achieve 95% participation of the students tested in state testing; to our media center team for ensuring our students have the best of the best library resources for their research; to our coaches for tracking their student-athletes and ensuring they are performing on the classroom as well as on the field; to our cafeteria team for providing high quality lunches each day; to our custodial team for keeping our school clean each day the student enter the building; to our bus drivers for bring our students to school and home every day safely; to our SROs for helping keep our school safe secure each day; to our administrative team for consistently managing student behavior and building level expectations to help make for smooth daily operations, and lastly to our parents for giving us the honor to educate your child every day and showing your continued support to make Indian Land High School the place to be!
