One more for the teachers as we celebrate CTE month! Teachers share how you foster a sense of belonging in your classroom!

Teachers this one is for you...share what inspired you to become a CTE instructor!

Career Development Facilitators from Andrew Jackson, Buford, Indian Land, LCSD Career Center and Lancaster High Schools met at the Career Center on Friday morning. Their meeting began with breakfast prepared by our Culinary Arts program and ended with a little pampering by our Cosmetology program.

Students in Medical Terminology practiced diagramming the heart this week!

Mr. Catoe and his Automotive Technology 2 students had a lot going on in the shop this week. Some students were working on a transmission, one was doing an alignment, and a few others were helping on a race car.

There is always something going on in Auto Collision! This shop stays busy working on multiple jobs at all times! New instructor Adam Yarborough has been a great addition to the Phoenix family and does a great job teaching students! Here are just a few of the projects currently going in the shop.

Next up going to SkillsUSA is Xavier Brunet from the Machine Tool program. He is preparing for competition using the Mastercam program. Good luck Xavier!

A group from the Career Center faculty and staff were part of the lunch crew for the professional development day on Monday February 19. This group assisted Chef Hawkes and his students with preparing the food, beverages, plates, and all logistics of feeding over 700 teachers across the district! It was a busy day!

Students are actively preparing for the SkillsUSA competition next month! Two students will represent cosmetology at the event. Ayanna Clyburn will be competing in the nails division, while McKenzie McAnulty will compete in the hair division. We wish these two young ladies good luck!

Tuesday's Fun Fact

From design to finished product....Family and Consumer Science (FACS) 1 students have been learning about basic sewing construction skills. They designed their own projects and sewed a "pillow" using basic stitches like backstitch, running stitch, ladder stitch, blanket stitch, and whip stitch. They loved seeing their designs come to life! Look at those proud faces!

Another new experience for some students! Horticulture students learned zero turn mower operations last week in class. They were able to go outside and put their skills to the test!

Quick grill update!
Welding students have been steadily working on this custom grill. They have finished up most of the fab work on it. Next up is paint! Be sure to check back later to see the completed project! And remember if you are interested in a grill like this contact Carlean Taylor at carlean.taylor@lcsd.k12.sc.us or 803-285-7404!

Thank you to each and everyone of you that support our school, programs, and students! We couldn't do what we do without you!

February is CTE month! Join us in celebrating all of our students all month long!

New project alert!
Our carpentry students, with the guidance of Mr. Sowell, are building an enclosure around the vending machines in the lobby. Check out the progress they have made so far!

Check out the great things the Lancaster County Green Thumbs have going on!

57 Cadillac Update
Students have been repairing the body damages to the rear of the Cadillac. The rear half has been primed with urethane high build primer. In addition students have learned how to correct old body repairs with MIG welding. This is important to know as those types of repairs are not used in the industry anymore.

Reach out to schedule a conference!

Our programs offer students new experiences. Horticulture students have the opportunity to learn basic safety procedures and how to operate farm equipment. Most recently students focused on tractor operations.
