School Safety Message 9/9/2025 - Today our schools successfully completed our scheduled active shooter/intruder drill. This type of drill not only improves our preparedness, but most importantly, helps us better protect our students and staff should the unthinkable occur. This was only a practice drill and was done through classroom instruction on the topic and administrative protocol practice. The drill is conducted in a way that is open and honest but also age appropriate to younger students to avoid fear. Over 16,000 students and staff took part in this drill today. This type of drill is one of four we will conduct on this topic this school year. A special thanks to our students and staff who took part, and for their commitment to “Putting our Children First.” Lancaster County School District Safety and Transportation
