📢❤📢Check out this weeks Tomahawk of the Week, Tanishia White!!📢❤📢
“I would like to nominate Tanishia White for Tomahawk of the Week. Tanishia has been a positive influence on students at HES for many years. She is a calm, consistent presence that our children love and trust. She is always willing to do any and every task thrown her way and she does them with a smile and a positive attitude! Taniesha is quick to jump in if any child or staff needs help around the building. She has even been known over the years to work “magic tricks” on some of our toughest little five year olds! ;) We suspect her trick includes a recipe of consistency, calmness and a whole heap of love! Anyone who has the pleasure to spend time with Tanishia walks away feeling cheery and perhaps with a little giggle or two! ;) Thank you Tanishia for being a stronghold for the children and teachers at HES! We are so fortunate to have you here and appreciate all your hard work for the students and being such an excellent co-worker and friend to all!”
Congratulations Ms. White! As this week's winner, you will receive a $25 gift card to Super Chix in Indian Land! Thank you Super Chix for your support!

Second graders have been talking about goods and services in social studies. Last Friday, Mrs. Davis' husband came in to talk about goods and services that Tesla provides as he works for them. They even got to look at and explore the car and watch the car dance to music.

Mrs Frame's 2nd grade enjoyed their Glow Day yesterday! Glow Day was their top incentive goal for Read A Thon. Her class read over 15,000 minutes to earn this prize! The class had a day full of every glow in the dark activity possible; glowing addition, roll and trace, chocolate egg toss, glow ring toss, sight word cup stacking, skip counting ball toss and learned about different insects and animals that have bioluminescent qualities. It was an amazing day and such a fun way to get ready for Spring Break!

We loved celebrating World Down Syndrome Day by wearing mismatched socks! We have some awesome friends that make today extra special for the Tomahawk family and we sure loved learning today!

One of the best days of the year is the day we get to celebrate our teachers of the year!! We are blessed with an amazing staff and it's always hard not to give every single one of them an award...but are so thrilled to celebrate the following people: Danielle Feigert: Teacher of the Year is just the start for the awards this girl deserves...Danielle is an amazing second grade teacher and an even better person. She exudes love wherever she goes! She is a dynamic leader, a supportive teammate, and a passionate educator. We are so happy to celebrate her and we consider ourselves to be lucky to learn from her every day! Carleen Thompson: Carleen is our Beginning Teacher of the Year. One phrase you hear often about Carleen is that it is so hard to believe it's her first year! She is passionate, poised, and professional in all the ways. She works hard to meet the needs of each child and is going to be an incredible asset to the profession for years to come!We are proud of her and grateful for her every day! Kevin Shanahan: if you know, Mr. Kevin, this award should come as no surprise! With a heart as big as his smile, Kevin is always there to make everyone of us...from the kids, to his coworkers...feel like family! He is the first to lend a hand in. ALL areas of our school and truly believes this job is a calling not a chore. He takes on the hard takes with the same positive energy and he does the fun ones. We don't take for granted how lucky we are to have him as a Tomahawk!
!

1st grade has had a fun couple of days at the York County Museum. Students got to do several activities at the museum. They visited with some of the workers who let them touch animals like a snake, iguana and a toad. They also did a self guided tour of museum. Then they got to go into the planetarium and see the show about the moon and sun in our solar system. If you have a 1st grader, make sure to ask them about their fun day!

Rising Kindergarten families, mark your calendars for Kindergarten Information Night, March 28 at 6:00pm! You'll get to meet our kindergarten team, ask questions and tour the building. We can't wait to meet you!!

📢❤📢Congratulations to this week's Tomahawk of the Week, Susan Loncar!📢❤📢
"I'd like to nominate Susan Loncar for Tomahawk of the week. Susan loves her students and it shows in her everyday interactions with them. If you walk past Susan's classroom, you will hear her cheering students on daily. "You Go Girl," is one of my favorite sayings Susan tells girls when giving them a confidence boost. Susan teaches with tons of energy and heart and she deserves to be recognized for her commitment to making HES better. Thanks for all you do for your students and for HES! We're lucky to have a teacher like you! Congrats!"
Congratulations Mrs. Loncar! As this week's winner, you will receive a $25 gift card to Super Chix in Indian Land! Thank you Super Chix for your support!
