We truly can’t thank Whataburger enough for all they’ve done to support Indian Land schools - especially ILIS!
Thank you, ✨ Whataburger! ✨

She writes, "Students in my 1st and 2nd Block classes were assigned an influential person to research for Black History Month! We had lessons in the Media Center with Ms. Harris where she taught the students how to find credible resources, research efficiently and paraphrase correctly! Students then took everything they learned and spent a week researching their personal and learning all about them and their impact. Students then took all that information and completed a one pager project, sharing everything they learned about their person. This project honors these important figures during Black History Month and I am so impressed with my students! They did an amazing job! "
We are impressed too, Ms. Hensley! They're so talented, and the projects look great!

We’ve been working hard to help our students understand what it truly means to have a growth mindset — and more importantly, how to apply it to all areas of their lives. Through small groups, weekly news skits, posters around the building, and schoolwide challenges, the message has been clear: we can all grow with effort, practice, and perseverance.
At our pop-up table, students played a fun “fortune teller” game focused on growth mindset questions. One of the most popular prompts was: “What is something you used to not be great at, but worked hard to improve?” The answers were incredible — everything from math and reading to sports skills and creative hobbies.
It’s so encouraging to see our ILIS Warriors recognizing their progress and choosing not to stay stuck in a fixed mindset. They are putting in the work, embracing challenges, and proving that growth happens when you don’t give up. 💪🌱
So proud of our students for continuing to grow!

They write, "We had a great time celebrating at our book voting party! Students who read three of our nominee books, either from the children's book award list or the junior book award list were invited to our popcorn bar celebration. They were able to enjoy some popcorn, play some games, and cast their vote for the best book in the state. This is a great way for students to use their voice and let offers know what type of books they want to see more of. Thanks to all who participated."
Ms. Harris, Ms. Sebree and Mr. Shackleford set up an incredible reward for students who put in the time reading and letting their voice be heard by placing their vote! Next week is Read Across America week- check out the website for more details- a pajama day is included! Woohoo!

As you may know, our wonderful counselors provide support for students through individual and small group counseling. Some of the additional ways they connect with students is through yoga club, lunch groups, providing birthday treats, breakfast check ins, minute meetings, School Ambassador & Student Council programs, and celebrating our Worthy Warriors! Want to learn more? Check out all of the resources available on our school website linked below. These incredible women are the best of the best, and we can’t thank them enough for all they do to make ILIS such a special place for our students!

Wednesday, February 4, 2026 ALL Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be on a two-hour delay.
Lancaster County School District has carefully assessed campus conditions, including main roads, auxiliary roads, parking areas, and walkways. While many surfaces have improved, some shaded areas still have ice—however temperatures are forecasted to remain above freezing tonight.
To allow additional time for our facilities teams to address any concerns and ensure campuses are as safe as possible for students, staff, and families, Lancaster County School District will operate on a two-hour delay.
We ask all families, staff, and students to continue exercising caution while traveling to school and allot enough time to travel safely. Keep in mind that a two hour delay is two hours after the school day normally starts. Please avoid areas that may present hazards and be prepared for possible redirection around icy spots upon arrival on campus. We also encourage students to wear appropriate footwear and clothing suited for current weather conditions. Reminder, breakfast is not served during a two-hour delay schedule. The 4K field trip will be rescheduled for a later date.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and commitment to student safety as we navigate these conditions together.
As a safety precaution, ALL Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Want to skip the line and order on the app? Use code "JMGIVES". Thank you for your support!

Lancaster County School District is aware that inclement weather is expected over the weekend. Due to anticipated hazardous conditions caused by snow and ice, ALL OUTDOOR after school athletics, activities, and school related programs will be canceled beginning at the end of the school day on Friday, January 30, 2026 which will allow our Facilities and Maintenance teams to prepare facilities.
ALL athletics, activities, and school related programs are canceled Saturday, January 31, 2026 and Sunday, February 1, 2026.
We are closely monitoring the weather event and our team has been communicating regularly with Duke Energy, South Carolina Department of Transportation, and SC Emergency Management Systems. We will provide an update on Sunday, February 1, 2026. REMINDER - Monday, February 2, 2026 is a HOLIDAY for students and a professional learning day for staff.
