Two Lights for Tomorrow: A Nationwide Tribute to America's 250th Birthday
Gina Bobo, Lancaster County 250 Committee
In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, a special tribute is being planned across the nation to commemorate one of the most pivotal moments in American history—the ride of
Paul Revere. On the night of April 18–19, 1775, Revere made his famous midnight ride, warning the American colonists that British forces were advancing. This action sparked the Revolutionary War, ultimately leading to the founding of the United States. To mark this
momentous occasion, Americans across the country are being invited to participate in "Two Lights for Tomorrow" a nationwide initiative designed to honor the spirit of freedom and the nation's enduring legacy.
On Friday, April 18, 2025, participants will be encouraged to display two lights outside their
homes, businesses, churches, and public spaces. These two lights will symbolize both the rich history of the American Revolution and the promise of a bright future that continues to guide the nation. This event will serve as a reminder of the values that have sustained America for 250 years.
For those who are unable to participate in person, a digital campaign will allow individuals to share their displays of light on social media platforms using the hashtag
#TwoLightsForTomorrow, further expanding the reach of this national tribute.
