Andrew Jackson Middle School has been awarded a 2024-25 Distinguished Arts Program Grant from the South Carolina Arts Commission. AJMS’ grant application entitled “Collaborating and Making New” provides $18,000 for classroom supplies, teacher professional development and artist residencies. As part of the grant, Nashville composer Garrett Breeze will be composing a piece of music for the AJMS Chorus and be in residency for two days in March with choral students.
The grant will also fund resources such as music, scripts, art supplies and dance costumes for each of the Fine Arts areas. Funding is also included for rights and supplies for the Annual 8th Grade Musical which this year is the Wizard of Oz to be held on November 21 & 22, 2024 in the Andrew Jackson Visual and Performing Arts Center. The Distinguished Arts Program grant also funds Summer Arts Institutes for Fine Arts Faculty which are hosted by the South Carolina Arts Commission. #WeSeeYou #LCSDArtsFocus
