
Lancaster County School District will be closed on Friday, September 27, 2024, and we will have an eLearning day. We have been in contact with Emergency Management and the Governor has declared a State of Emergency. Due to threat of wind gusts exceeding the state regulations, busses will not be able to travel the roadways. As a safety precaution, ALL Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be closed on Friday, September 27, 2024. Lancaster County School District will have an Elearning day. You will receive eLearning information from your student’s school. ALL events and activities are canceled on Friday, September 27, 2024.

The Kershaw Area Community Forum is tonight at 6 p.m. at the Andrew Jackson Visual Performing Arts Center.


Lancaster County School District teacher Julia Byrd has been selected as a PSTA Emerging Leader. The purpose of the Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI) is to engage teacher leaders in the areas of educational policy, advocacy, leadership, proven educational practices and pedagogies, and growth within Palmetto State Teachers Association.
Ms. Byrd is a high school Economics and Government teacher at Indian Land High School.
Additionally, she is involved in her local church and a PSTA District Captain. In 2022-2023 she served on the Governor's Teacher Recruitment and Retention Task Force. She was a Clemson University Teaching Fellow, a 2022-2023 Teaching Fellow of Distinction, and Indian Land High School Beginning Teacher of the Year in 2023-2024.

The Town of Heath Springs and the Town of Kershaw are hosting a Health and Wellness event at the Andrew Jackson Multipurpose Building this Saturday, September 21 from 9 AM to 2 PM. This free event will feature several health resources, free medical screenings, and a kids zone with inflatables, face painting, and a touch-a-truck area. Free fresh fruit and veggie bags will be given out while supplies last, and raffle tickets will be sold for a brand-new bicycle. We hope you will all join us for this event to help our community get healthy and stay healthy!
